Natura 2000 and organic farming

To the people of Japan, are you familiar with "Natura 2000"?

"Natura 2000" is a network of protected areas established by the EU (member states of the European Union) to conserve biodiversity. It encompasses over 26,000 sites within the EU, covering 18% of the EU's total land area and 4% of its marine area. The EU has undertaken various initiatives for biodiversity conservation over many years.

In 1979, the Birds Directive was issued,

and in 1992, the Habitats Directive was issued, designating 450 animal species and 500 plant species as "precious wild species" and mandating the conservation of their habitats. Subsequently, in 1992, "Natura 2000" was established within the EU under the Habitats Directive.

Laconiko's olive groves are located in Lakonia, Greece, surrounded by the beautiful blue sea and bathed in bright sunshine during the day.

And our olive groves are also located within this Natura 2000 area. Because they are protected from environmental pollutants and contaminants, we can confidently deliver safe and high-quality olive oil to our customers, managed under very strict conditions.

Furthermore, all our cultivation is done using organic farming methods.

We do not use any pesticides or fertilizers that are not organically certified, and we do not intrude on precious natural habitats. Instead, we protect natural habitats and conduct our production with environmental considerations in mind.
